The project Don’t tell Ashton enabled people to get together in creating the worlds first artwork made by twitter users. It set out to highlight the rise of social currency and showcase that brands and people can make a difference just by being social online.

In the first phase of the project people tweeted “I’m on the worlds first artwork made by twitter users. Just #donttellashton” to get their twitter avatar on the artwork. The size of the avatar was decided by the amount of followers a person had on twitter. The only person with enough followers to fill the entire canvas was (at the time) the person with the most followers on the social network. Ashton Kutcher.
Ashton didn’t tweet and the artwork got filled within 3 days reaching out to approximately 3 million people in 144 countries.

On google the exact phrase “don’t tell ashton” gives 97.900 result. The project has been picked up by all internationally acclaimed industry press including Mashable, PSFK etc. It has been ranked No 1 creative piece by Creativity Online and has been included in Ad Age Top 5 Weekly.

The artwork was later made in to a physical piece by Swedish artist Jon Holm and we set out to Los Angeles to try to find Ashton Kutcher and deliver the art work.

On tuesday the 8:th of june we finally accomplished our mission and meet with Ashton. People have had the chance to follow the delivery of the artwork at donttellashton.tumblr.com

aplusk then tweeted “Why am I the last one to find out about everything …. brizzly.com/pic/2PE5 #donttellashton”

With Ashtons tweet we reached out to over 8,5 million people.

With less than 2500 €.
